Ellena Siyalla Rambutan Nove / Not all that Hangs is Rambutan (2021 —)

This satirical series critiques patriarchy and ethnonationalism by fusing drawings of testicles with symbols of Sinhala Buddhist power such as the Satakaya (shawl), the Lotus Tower, the Kastane (a ceremonial Sri Lanka sword) and military decoration. The title ‘Ellena Siyalla Rambutan Nove’ is a play on the aphorism ‘Not all that Glitters is Gold’.
