Men in Robes – Paradise Road Gallery (2025)

‘Men in Robes’ seeks to unravel how gender and desire are shaped and regulated within Theravāda Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Saffron robes-long associated with renunciation and moral authority-carry the weight of patriarchal structures in Malinda Jayasinghe’s inspiration. Through deliberate composition and bold, expressive strokes of oil paint, the works reflect how masculinity is constructed.
